On June 1, 2024, Japan Day kicked off once again on the banks of the Rhine in Düsseldorf.

We were also there on the lawn in front of the state parliament building to showcase our arts of Kyudo and Iaido together with Hakushinkai Düsseldorf. Even an hour before the event’s official start, numerous visitors had already gathered to secure a good vantage point for the many attractions. According to the organizers, approximately 630,000 people interested in Japan from all over Germany and neighboring countries took the opportunity to learn about Japan and the Japanese community in the state capital at this traditional festival.

There was a huge crowd at all the booths and tents, including the sports stage, which was set up this year on the lawn in front of the state parliament building. The weather was ideal at first—not too hot or too sunny—until two heavy rain showers around 5:00 p.m. brought our performances to a halt. After that, the lawn was simply too wet to continue. Nevertheless, we were very satisfied with how the day went. We were able to meet old friends and also introduce our art to many new people interested in it.
