On Saturday, May 23, it was once again time for the big Japan Festival in Düsseldorf am Rhein. The Neandertal Kyudo Club was there again alongside Hakushinkai Düsseldorf, this time at a new location near the Rheinterasse due to construction work. After the rather cool and very humid Japan Days of the past two years, this year required some heat resistance. With temperatures around 30°C, staying hydrated and protecting oneself from the sun were essential.\n\nEven setting up the booth turned into a workout, because although the lawn had been mowed, the dry grass had been left lying on the ground. So the first step was to break out the rakes and rakes. By around 10:30 a.m., the grounds had been prepared to our satisfaction, so the demonstrations could begin at 11:00 a.m. One advantage of the location was that the sports stage was right across the way, so we only had a short walk to our presentation area. Fears that visitors might not be able to find the new location proved unfounded. We certainly couldn’t complain about a lack of audience turnout. By the end, even the fittest among us were truly exhausted.
